We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Employment Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Employment Service in Waltham Forest.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As an Employment Specialist, you will manage a caseload of clients with mental health conditions, building trusting relationships and providing personalised employment support aligned with IPS principles. You will help clients identify career goals, develop CVs, prepare for interviews, search for opportunities, and sustain employment through workplace coaching and reasonable adjustments. You will build strong employer relationships, identify suitable vacancies, and collaborate with community partners and clinical teams to provide coordinated support. You will also advise on employment-related matters, connect clients with relevant financial and welfare resources, maintain accurate records on NHS systems, and ensure all activity complies with safeguarding, data protection, equality, and service requirements.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

In this role, you will need experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions to secure, return to, or retain employment, alongside an understanding of person-centred employment support and IPS principles. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage clients, employers, partners, and other stakeholders effectively. Strong organisational and time-management abilities are essential, including managing competing priorities, assessments, action plans, and accurate case records. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems, understand relevant employment legislation and organisational policies, and demonstrate empathy, professionalism, self-motivation, and a commitment to equality, continuous development, wellbeing, and positive employment outcomes.

Interview Steps

We keep our interview process simple, so you know exactly what to expect.

  • Shortlisting call: We have a team of dedicated recruitment specialists who will speak to you about your experience, motivations and values. They will also tell you about all the great work we do!

Don't be alarmed if there are other stages in the process, it's all part of the plan for some of our roles.
