AV Technician
Location: Hounslow, West London
Salary: Competitive (Based on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: ASAP / Immediate
The Opportunity
Wayman Education is seeking a technically adept and proactive AV Technician for an immediate start at a vibrant secondary school in Hounslow. As technology becomes increasingly integrated into the modern classroom, this role is essential in ensuring that audio-visual systems are reliable, high-performing, and ready to support creative teaching and learning.
The Role
You will be the school’s resident expert on all things audio-visual. From managing high-profile school productions and assemblies to maintaining the interactive displays in every classroom, your technical support will be the backbone of the school’s daily digital operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Support: Set up and operate sound desks, lighting rigs, and projection systems for school plays, concerts, assemblies, and parent evenings.
Hardware Maintenance: Perform routine checks and repairs on interactive whiteboards, projectors, large-format displays, and PA systems.
Video Production: Assist with filming school events and basic video editing for the school's digital displays and social media channels.
Equipment Management: Maintain an inventory of portable AV equipment (cameras, microphones, speakers) and manage the lending system for staff.
Troubleshooting: Provide rapid-response technical support to teachers during lessons to resolve any connectivity or hardware failures.
The School
This Hounslow-based school is proud of its performing arts heritage and has invested in professional-grade AV equipment in its main hall and drama studios. You will join a forward-thinking technical team that values innovation and provides the resources needed to keep the school at the cutting edge of educational technology.
Why join this team?
Creative Environment: Work in a school that prioritizes the arts, giving you the chance to work on large-scale theatrical productions.
Immediate Start: Jump into the thick of the school year and make an immediate impact on upcoming school performances.
Excellent Connectivity: Well-located for residents of West London with easy access via the M4, A4, and local rail links.
Technical Growth: Opportunities to lead on new AV installations and integrate the latest wireless streaming technologies into the classroom.
Requirements
Proven experience in an AV support role, preferably within education, events, or the corporate sector.
Strong technical knowledge of sound reinforcement, stage lighting (DMX), and digital projection.
Proficiency in basic video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve).
Familiarity with streaming platforms and integrating AV with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
A relevant technical qualification in Media, Live Events, or Music Technology is highly desirable.
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one immediately).
