Indirect Tax Consulting Summer Vacation Scheme 2027

London

What does this team do?

Indirect Tax Advisory

Indirect Taxes are taxes charged on everyday transactional activities, and our team advises on how businesses should manage these. The most well-known Indirect Tax is VAT, but we also cover other transactional taxes including Insurance Premium Tax and Air Passenger Duty, amongst others.

Our Indirect Tax Advisory team help our clients manage their VAT and Indirect Tax positions – whether it is advising on multi-million-pound transactions, VAT on everyday retail products, or how we can help clients adopt tech to report VAT correctly on their income and expenditure. As well as being at the forefront of tax technology, Indirect Taxes involve an understanding of case law, so skillsets and experiences in our team are wide-ranging.

“I have enjoyed my time in the graduate scheme at Deloitte, and the best part has been finding practical, commercial solutions for our clients. No two projects are the same, and I have enjoyed exploring how technology, analytics, and automation can be applied to improve processes and solve real business challenges. Working with specialists across the firm keeps me learning and broadening my perspective every day” - Global Trade Advisory Tax Consultant

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our family friendly, flexible working here.

How will I develop?

We want our people to have worldclass practical experience coupled with the technical rigour and knowledge that comes from the right professional qualification.

We think the best experience is being immersed in client work, working alongside other team members, and learning the practical skills that will set you up for a successful career. That will be the initial focus whether you are a Graduate, an Industrial Placement or a BrightStart, supported by internal training and support from coaches, people leaders, and your team.

We think this is vital and will set you up for success when we further support your development with a professional qualification, recognising that different roles across our business align to different pathways. The specific qualification will depend on the area of specialism you join and may include joint or accelerated programmes leading to qualifications like Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and Charted Tax Adviser (CTA) as well as other more specialist routes focused on tax or technical expertise such as Tax Customs qualifications.
