Autism Tutor - SEN
Autism Tutor / SEN Tutor – South East London Autism (ASC) | SEND | 1:1 Tuition | Ages 5–25 Location: South East London Pay: £25–£35 per hour PAYE Job Type: Part-Time / Full-Time / Flexible Hours New Chapter Tuition is currently recruiting experienced and compassionate Autism Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 tuition for children and young people aged 5–25 across South East London. This rewarding outreach role involves supporting learners with Autism (ASC), including young people with communication differences, sensory needs, anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and additional learning needs. Many learners may be accessing support through EOTAS packages, alternative provision, elective home education, or whilst awaiting specialist school placements. Tuition is delivered within homes, libraries, schools, community settings, and alternative provisions across South East London. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and tailored 1:1 tuition sessions
- Support autistic learners with both academic and emotional development
- Adapt learning approaches to individual sensory and communication needs
- Build positive and consistent relationships that support engagement
- Deliver flexible, trauma-informed, and nurture-based learning approaches
- Support learners in developing confidence, independence, and routine
- Monitor learner progress and complete session reports
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, and professionals
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting children or young people with Autism / SEND
- Understanding of Autism (ASC) and inclusive learning approaches
- Experience as a Teacher, Tutor, TA, HLTA, Mentor, or similar role preferred
- Good understanding of the UK National Curriculum
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, calm, and adaptable approach
- Ability to work independently within community settings
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
