The Platform Engineering Manager – EPS is responsible for providing leadership over all aspects of testing and quality assurance for EPS platform programmes.
Leads with clarity and purpose, guiding teams to build resilient, secure, and scalable systems. Champions automation, testing, and continuous delivery as foundations of quality. Skilled at translating complex technical needs into clear strategies, fostering collaboration across disciplines. Values observability, adaptability, and thoughtful design in every layer of the stack.
You will act a single point of responsibility for solution testing within program/platform. This will involve assuring the overall technical solution comprising of multiple projects and a mix of internal and supplier driven testing. Whilst leading resource planning, budgeting, and recruitment of test resources for a single programme. The successful individual will be able to manage complex, large scale programme test requirements, covering both Waterfall and Agile projects.
Reporting into the Platform Test Manager - This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to attend our Head Office in Farringdon, London for 3 days per week
Team size - 0 – 30+ and will be responsible for permanent and/or flex resources

Key Accountabilities
• Testing Leadership & Execution
Plan and manage end-to-end testing (Unit, Contract/Integration/End-to-End/Resilience and Chaos Testing, Observability & Monitoring Validation. UAT, OAT, Pre-Production, Performance & Volume) across delivery programmes up to £Xm
• Test Strategy & Design
Define the comprehensive test approach for platforms, ensuring coverage of high-risk areas in collaboration with BAs, Architects and Technical leads
• Resourcing & Budgeting
Plan, recruit, budget and manage both permanent and flexible test resources at programme and project levels
• Supplier & Stakeholder Management
Align test approach, scope, resourcing and tools with PM teams and third-party vendors; resolve supplier integration issues and ensure test strategy adherence
• Tool and Automation Selection
Identify and implement DevOps capability, refactor test automation code, select new tooling when required. Lead code revies
• Architectural Engagement & Coverage
Work with Solution and Technical Architects to ensure all technical aspects validated through testing
• Quality Ownership
Function as point of contact for solution quality at all stages of development
• Release Readiness
Ensure solutions fit for deployment, supported by evidence-based quality deliverables and risks
Key Skills
• Program Test planning, management, and execution
• Evaluate test resource management, including budgeting and recruitment
• Supplier management, including management of third-party test resources and management
• Supplier work package negotiation, including assurance / oversight of testing undertaken by RMG suppliers
• Strong problem solving and the ability to lead on resolving programme test planning and execution issues
• Technically competent with cloud native solution, web server / services, middleware technology, and APIs and database technologies
• Strong analytical skills, preferably developed as part of any performance engineering orientated background
• Experience of working with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence, Microsoft Azure/GCP
• Agile training/qualifications or experience incl. Scrum & Kanban
About You
Experience
• Programme Test Management in large scale programme environments with multiple projects and vendors
• Programme level leadership on Quality Assurance in hybrid environments comprising of internal and supplier engineering teams.
• Resource and budget planning and management for test resources within programmes up to £Xm
• Working within a matrix management structure, leading on balancing programme level demands with alignment to the overall RMG Test Strategy and platform teams
• Firsthand experience comfortable designing systems that respond to events in real time at scale, with a strong grasp of testing, automation, and deployment best practices. Values reliability, security, and clear communication between services. Experienced in using infrastructure-as-code and building with resilience and observability in mind
Qualifications
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• ISTQB/ISEB certification advantageous
• Certified Agile Tester (CAT) preferred
