Employee Listening Behavioural Scientist

HSBC Global Services Limited
London

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an individual to join the team as Employee Listening Behavioural Scientist .

At HSBC, listening to colleagues, responding to their feedback and using these insights to drive behaviour change is central to our people strategy.

In this new role, you’ll bring behavioural science expertise to our Employee Listening and Dialogue team, using evidence-based methods to help understand our employee data and deploying these insights to influence positive shifts in employee behaviour. You’ll work with a wide range of data sources—including HR people data, comms platform usage, and employee surveys—to design, implement, and evaluate behavioural interventions that drive meaningful change in support of our people strategy.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you'll:

  • Use behavioural science techniques to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions to improve the employee experience, build a culture of high performance and support employee wellbeing, with a view to scaling successful approaches more widely
  • Analyse HR people data, employee surveys and comms platform usage, alongside other sources of behavioural insights, to identify behavioural patterns and opportunities for intervention
  • Work closely with HR, Communications, data scientists, and product owners to ensure interventions are well-integrated and insights are actionable
  • Support the development of behavioural science as a discipline within the People, Governance and Communications function, moving from direct intervention to broader advisory and practice-building as the capability grows
  • Translate findings into clear, actionable insights for leadership, answering the “so what?” and providing evidence of effectiveness (or not) for all interventions
  • Focus on delivering solid, measurable improvements through proven methods, building credibility and momentum for behavioural science within the organisation

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong background in behavioural science, organisational psychology, or a related field, with hands-on experience designing and evaluating behavioural interventions
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with a wide range of data sources, including HR people data, employee surveys, and digital behaviour data, familiarity with analytics and reporting tools
  • Experience translating complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
  • Experience working in international, cross-functional teams; comfortable operating as an individual contributor within a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrate a passion for exploring new methodologies and technologies, curiosity, and a desire to make a real difference in our employee experience

Opening up a world of opportunity.

Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
