Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist | The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
The Royal Marsden Private care breast team are looking for an experienced, dynamic nurse who is passionate about the patient experience and the delivery of high-quality patient-focused care. This post is a band 7 Clinical Nurse specialist role, which is based across site.
Private care at the Royal Marsden includes 3 sites Sutton, Chelsea and Cavendish Square. This role will mainly be based in Chelsea and Cavendish Square.
The post involves acting as a keyworker to patients diagnosed with primary and metastatic breast cancer and providing support and information throughout their cancer pathway, as well as participation in service development. Successful candidates will have post registration experience and have knowledge in breast surgery, oncology and ideally, having some palliative care knowledge and skills managing patients with advancing disease. Advanced communication skills are essential.
Lead Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist- [email protected] (Tel No 0208 661 3967) The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty. In addition the post holder will be required to liaise with their peers across the Trust, the divisional management team and appropriate corporate directorates and teams. The post holder will be expected to liaise with colleagues external to the Trust and national networks as appropriate to the specialty.
1.1 To provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient with
breast cancer acting as a resource to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.
1.2 To take responsibility for own evidence based practice and implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports nursing practice within Breast cancer care
1.3 To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a synchronised specialist service.
1.4 To provide informal and formal teaching, e.g. academic courses provided by the School of Nursing. The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre. 2.2 To use advanced clinical judgement to plan, implement and evaluate care for patients throughout their cancer pathway The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Job application: Clinical Nurse Specialist 2.3 In collaboration with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to formulate and/or revise relevant policies and to regularly review these following change/implementation. To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.
2.4 In conjunction with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so that patients with complex needs are referred to the appropriate specialist/s.
2.5 To manage an agreed caseload, using in depth knowledge of the patient / client group and acting as the key worker where appropriate. This advert closes on Thursday 4 Sep 2025
