Director, Speciality Finance, Central London

c 150,000 Base + Comp

To lead origination and new business development for the Speciality Finance team, driving growth of the Bank's lending relationships with non–bank specialist lenders and building a market–leading pipeline of new transactions, while maintaining oversight of the credit quality of an allocated portfolio of asset–based lending facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead origination and business development activity for the Speciality Finance team, proactively sourcing, building, and converting a pipeline of new lending opportunities with non–bank specialist lenders across bridging, development finance, and other speciality finance verticals.
• Lead negotiation of commercial terms, pricing, and structure for new facilities and upsizes, and own the end–to–end execution process from term sheet and credit approval through to documentation and drawdown.
• Build and maintain a strong network of intermediary, broker, sponsor, and counterparty relationships, representing the Bank at senior levels and in the wider market to generate deal flow and strengthen the Speciality Finance origination franchise.
• Develop and execute a targeted origination strategy for the Speciality Finance sector, identifying priority counterparties and verticals, tracking competitor activity, and positioning the Bank to win new mandates.
• Identify and pursue incremental lending opportunities within the existing portfolio, including upsizes, additional tranches, and new product lines, coordinating with Credit and Legal teams to drive execution.
• Lead Credit Committee presentations for new transactions and amendments, preparing high–quality credit papers and structured responses to committee questions to support timely approval of new business.
• Undertake analysis of borrowing base certificates, loan tape data, and management information as part of ongoing portfolio oversight, identifying early warning indicators or covenant issues where relevant.

Required

• Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience in Speciality Finance or a closely related discipline such as asset–based lending, warehouse lending, or ABS, with a demonstrable track record of successful origination and new business development.
• Proven ability to originate and win new business, including a demonstrable network of intermediary, broker, and sponsor relationships, and the ability to evaluate counterparty credit quality, structure facility terms, and negotiate through to close.
• Strong understanding of the UK non–bank lending market, including the operating models, funding structures, and regulatory environment of specialist mortgage and bridging lenders.
• Ability to analyse loan tape data, borrowing base certificates, contractual cashflows, and counterparty financial accounts, with the confidence to challenge management information and identify credit risks.
• Extensive experience authoring and presenting credit applications for new transactions to senior Credit Committees, with the ability to articulate complex credit and structural considerations clearly and concisely.
• Strong financial modelling capability, including cash flow analysis, facility utilisation projections, and scenario analysis in support of origination and deal structuring.
