Are you looking to your clinical skills in a different way? As a Functional Assessor, you'll continue to utilise your clinical expertise, maintain your registration, and enjoy a better work-life balance. If you have a minimum of 12 months' post-registration experience and have been practising as a clinician throughout the last year, we'd love to hear from you. If you are a pharmacist, we welcome your application if you have a minimum of 18 months experience.

Flexibility and remote working:
We offer a number of flexible working arrangements that suit those who prefer to work in an Assessment Centre full time or in a hybrid role.

Working hours throughout your training are 9.00am -5.00pm Monday to Friday.

Once training has been completed (typically around six months), other working patterns are available.

What you’ll be doing as a Functional Assessor:
  • Carrying out functional assessments with claimants’ face to face, via video & telephone to assess their ability to undertake activities of daily living.
  • Asking focused questions and use active listening and critical reasoning skills to gather accurate information throughout the claimant Assessment.
  • Produce high quality, structured clinical reports on all claimants you assess, for submission to the DWP.
  • Working alongside other highly experienced clinical colleagues to ensure high-quality & clinically fair assessments for all claimants.
As a Functional Assessor with Ingeus you can expect:
  • Predictable hours
  • Up to 10% quarterly discretionary bonus
  • 25 days holiday (+BH) with the option to buy more
  • Private pension

Whilst you will not be making decisions or recommendations as to the services and benefits for claimants, you will be using your clinical experience to ask the right questions to fully understand the claimants needs and living environment, gathering accurate information for the DWP to make those decisions.

Is this role right for you?
Many clinicians find the role of a Functional Assessor rewarding, but it’s also challenging at the same time and it’s not the right fit for everyone.

This role may not be the best match for you if:
  • You are not comfortable using or are unfamiliar with technology.
  • You dislike writing detailed reports.
  • You prefer a more hands on approach to clinical care.
  • You’re not looking for a new direction nor a period of retraining into a new role.
  • You don’t enjoy working in an environment with targets.
  • You are not looking for a role that requires you to work on site for some or all of your working week.3 days a week.
We look forward to receiving your application!
