Job Description

Trader, Equity Funding Desk - Front Office Markets

Citi's Markets business stands as a global leader, providing world-class solutions and unparalleled access across nearly 80 countries. Our client-facing, revenue-generating division offers extensive trading and execution capabilities spanning diverse asset classes like Commodities, Equities, Rates, and Spread Products, alongside our market-leading FX franchise. As a critical engine within the firm, Citi Markets empowers corporations, institutional investors, and governments with innovative financial products and services, driving global commerce and investment.

This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a junior trader to join Citi's Equity Funding desk. You will be integral in analyzing numerous constraining factors, including liquidity, tenor management, regulatory metrics, and inventory optimization, to execute the most cost-efficient structures. Your contribution will directly support the continued growth of Citi's wider Prime, Delta One, and Equities businesses. By trading a diverse range of products, including Equity swaps, repos, stock loan, FX swaps, and Interest Rate swaps, you will develop autonomy in decision-making and book management under the guidance of experienced desk leadership. Furthermore, you will actively lead and support critical projects aimed at enhancing existing processes, controls, technology, reporting, product offerings, and liquidity models.

What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:

  • Analyze large volumes of reporting data to make informed decisions regarding optimal trade types, structures, tenors, and sizes.

  • Execute new trades and manage lifecycle events across the desk's range of products (Equity swaps, repos, stock loan, FX swaps, and Interest Rate swaps).

  • Take responsibility for book management, risk monitoring, P&L reporting, and executing appropriate hedges to mitigate FX, cross-currency, and interest rate exposures.

  • Lead and support projects and in-depth analysis on key metrics to understand theory, propose logic changes, inform trading decisions, and ensure accurate pricing.

  • Collaborate with technology and quant partners to develop systematic improvements, contributing to specifications, maintaining ongoing contact, and participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Liaise with treasury to coordinate the usage of firm resources and manage liquidity and engage with sales to develop the franchise by anticipating client and internal demand.

  • Appropriately assess risk in all business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets through compliance with laws, ethical judgment, and transparent control issue management.

What we will need from you:

  • Experience working for a large banking institution, either in a trading role or a treasury function with familiarity in liquidity management.

  • A good understanding of how Prime and Delta One businesses operate, including the products they trade, embedded risks, and operational constraints.

  • Demonstrated experience in working with large datasets to produce concise and actionable conclusions.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication, along with effective interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience with some of the following: Python, VBA, Bloomberg, and Excel

What We Offer:

By joining Citi London, you will not only be part of a business casual workplace with a hybrid working model (up to 2 days working at home per week), but also receive a competitive base salary (which is annually reviewed), and enjoy a whole host of additional benefits such as:

  • 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)

  • A discretional annual performance related bonus

  • Private Medical Care & Life Insurance

  • Employee Assistance Program

  • Pension Plan

  • Paid Parental Leave

  • Special discounts for employees, family, and friends

  • Access to an array of learning and development resources

Alongside these benefits Citi is committed to ensuring our workplace is where everyone feels comfortable coming to work as their whole self, every day. We want the best talent around the world
