Operational Security Lead

Science Museum Group
London

Are you an experienced security professional, with knowledge of managing contracts? Do you have an understanding of the challenges of an operational site and are interested in working in London's key cultural attractions?

About us

At the Science Museum Group (SMG), we make it our mission to inspire futures. In order for us to keep our museums safe, accessible and open for all, we are continually committed to the wellbeing and protection of our buildings, collections, employees and visitors.

One of the key functions who will deliver on this is Resilience and Security, and we are now looking for a permanent Operational Security Lead to be part of the team, based at the Science Museum in London.

About the role

The Operational Security Lead will play a key part in maintaining the group's resilience and safety framework and managing our security contract. Working closely with the Operations teams, you will ensure that the contract is proportionate to the security risks at each site and is an efficient use of our resources.

Working with the Resilience and Security Lead, you will also play a key role in developing our security management system, delivering training and completing audits. You will also support in the ongoing review of our resilience management plans and delivery of training and exercises.

About you

Joining us, you will bring technical security experience, with an understanding of key security systems such as CCTV, intrusion detection, access control and/or key management. You will be experienced in managing contracted services and overseeing performance of these contracts. Knowledge of a working operational environment with members of the public (open buildings) will be key, as well as bringing a collaborative, solutions-focused approach and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels through solid working relationships.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
