Business Change Manager (Lead)
About the Role
At NPL, we’re not just shaping the future of science and engineering – we’re transforming how we work to support it. As we seek better ways of working, deliver sustainable, outcome-focused results, and drive broader organisational change, we’re looking for an experienced Business Change Manager to lead our Business Change Management (BCM) team.
- This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll build and develop BCM capability across NPL, working alongside outcome-focused colleagues who believe that people are at the heart of sustainable change.
- You’ll play a key role in the evolution of how change is delivered at NPL – ensuring it’s strategic, people-centred, and built to last.
You’ll be part of the Project Management and Transformation delivery team, helping shape our approach to managing and landing successful, sustainable change and business adoption that maximises the benefits of our programmes. You’ll work across the project lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and fellow BCMs to understand cross-functional dependencies, drive adoption, and grow NPL’s capability of business change management.
You’ll apply and adapt change management frameworks to suit NPL’s context, using tools and techniques that support behavioural, cultural, and digital transformation. You’ll be responsible for driving adoption, minimizing resistance, and ensuring benefits are realized and sustained.
If you’re ready to shape how change is delivered and grow a team that makes a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
About You
You’re a confident and experienced change leader who thrives in dynamic environments. You know that real, successful change is about more than communications and project plans – it’s about strategy, behaviour, culture, and outcomes.
You bring:
- Proven experience leading business change in complex organisations.
- A passion for developing people and building capability within teams.
- The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- A strategic mindset with the willingness to roll up your sleeves.
- A pragmatic approach to change, focused on what works, not just what’s written in the playbook.
- A belief in the power of collaboration, empathy, and simplicity.
- Proven experience with change management frameworks (e.g. Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter) and the ability to tailor them to context.
You’ll mentor and guide a team of BCMs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and shared success. You’re excited by the opportunity to shape how change is done and to leave a legacy of capability, confidence , and impact.
We actively recruit citizens of all backgrounds, but the nature of our work in specific departments means that nationality, residency and security requirements can be more tightly defined than others. You will be asked about this throughout the recruitment process. To work at NPL, you will need to obtain BPSS security clearance.
Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert therefore we may at any time bring the closing date forward. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as practical.
