Assistant SENDCo (Primary Phase)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding colleague to join our thriving and successful Trust and work as an Assistant SENDCo across our primary phase.
We are looking for a colleague who can demonstrate a deep understanding of pupils with SEND and the strategies that are needed to support them both academically and pastorally, so that all their needs can be met. You should be able to show evidence of outstanding practice through the quality of your teaching and the outcomes for pupils with SEND.
You will need to have empathy and are someone who is an advocate for some of our most vulnerable pupils. However, we expect this person to also support our pupils to ensure that they reach their potential academically, so they leave Langdon ready for the next phase in their educational journey.
You will be working with a range of stakeholders, internally and externally, so the successful candidate must have outstanding communication skills from the outset. You will work under the guidance of the SENDCO and will report to her and you will contribute to all matters relating to SEND. You will also gain experience of working with and liaising with staff in our ASD provision.
This is not a job for the faint-hearted and you will need to be resilient, strategic, dynamic, willing to learn, ambitious, hardworking and calm under pressure. You will need to be an experienced teacher with the professional credibility to be able to support students and advise staff regarding SEND pedagogy.
This is a genuine opportunity for someone who aspires to become a future SENDCO, or a SEND specialist. On the job training will be provided to the successful candidate, along with the chance to gain further nationally recognised qualifications.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the strategic development of SEND support within the primary phase and will be expected to hold staff to account in their delivery of an inclusive curriculum.
We are fortunate in already having a very strong team in place with outstanding colleagues and inspirational leaders, working within excellent facilities.
Our most recent KS2 results demonstrate significant improvement in performance, with pupils' outcomes well above the national average. We are therefore seeking to recruit a colleague with excellent SEND knowledge and clear evidence of their motivation and ability to deliver excellent outcomes for our SEND students.
Langdon Academy is a large all-through school, with over 2000 students across our primary and secondary phases, and is part of Brampton Manor Trust, along with Brampton Manor Academy, who have an enviable reputation both locally and nationally.
