Data and Reporting Analyst (12 month FTC)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data and Reporting Analyst (Grade 9) to join the Helix Team on a 12 month fixed-term contract (FTC).
Team Overview:MHHS is a major Ofgem initiative that has industry wide impact. Elexon plays a central role in implementing this change. An internal programme (Helix) has been operating to deliver the systems and operational change required ahead of planned implementation from September 2025. Elexon aims to ensure that Industry Participants are fully supported throughout their Marketwide Half Hourly Settlement transition journey and has established a dedicated Operations Control Centre. This centre acts as the primary touchpoint for reporting of all Participant touchpoints, providing management information to key business meetings and industry forums and working groups. The OCC provides a critical reporting and insights function responsible for monitoring the progress and performance of Participant transition as well as Elexon’s business performance and stabilisation during this significant industry change. Job Purpose:
We require an experienced data analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in all aspects of data analytics, including mining, generation, and visualisation. Additionally, this person should be committed to transforming data into readable, goal-oriented reports that drive innovation and growth. The Helix Data and Reporting Analyst role will work within the Helix Business Readiness workstream and report to the Operations Control Centre Lead. Key objectives of the role will be to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a suite of reports, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
 
- Identify trends and opportunities through analysis of complex datasets
 
- Identify opportunities for, and deliver, additional insights aligned with the OCC’s and wider business’ goals
 
- Work with stakeholders to refine the reporting suite, provide status updates, build relationships and respond to ad-hoc analysis needs
 
 Key Responsibilities: 
- Create and maintain rich, interactive visualisations through data interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources
 
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
 
- Proactively analyse data to answer key questions for stakeholders or yourself, aligned to the overall goals of the OCC, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement
 
- Deliver daily, weekly, monthly reporting and ad-hoc insights ensuring timeliness and accuracy
 
- Create, refine and maintain tracking models and impact forecasts
 
- Contribute to and participate in key business engagement activities required to support tracking of operational status and support decision-making and governance
 
- Support collaboration with business, Helix Programme and MHHS Programme stakeholders including organising meetings and workshops, risk and issue management, status reporting and planning.
 
- Identify, manage and maintain OCC risks and issues including where they may have impacts wider than on the project and accurately report the status of activities to the OCC Lead
 
 Capabilities and competencies: 
 Critical: 
- Demonstrated proven experience as a data analyst
 
- Proven analytics skills, including mining, evaluation, and visualisation
 
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
 
- Able to create visually appealing, insightful reports and presentations
 
- Strong Excel skills, with aptitude for learning other analytics tools
 
 Developmental / Desirable: 
- Good knowledge and experience of working within the energy sector
 
- PowerBI experience
 
- Experience of working with ServiceNow data and reporting
