About the Role

We’re seeking a Private Tax Manager to join a close-knit, partner-led team. This role is primarily focused on overseeing compliance for a varied portfolio of private clients, with scope to support on interesting ad hoc advisory projects. You’ll be trusted to deliver high-quality work, manage client relationships, and help develop junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Management

*

Oversee the completion and review of self-assessment tax returns, including those for high-net-worth individuals, non-UK domiciliaries, and trusts.

Manage filing deadlines and ensure work is delivered to the highest standard.

*

Client Portfolio Oversight

*

Act as day-to-day contact for a portfolio of private clients, building long-term relationships and ensuring smooth delivery of services.

*

Handle correspondence with HMRC on behalf of clients.

*

Ad Hoc Advisory Support

*

Assist senior team members on one-off advisory projects such as residence/domicile queries, inheritance tax planning, capital gains tax reporting, or structuring advice.

Research and prepare technical notes where required.

*

Team Leadership

*

Review work prepared by more junior colleagues, providing feedback and support.

*

Help foster a collaborative and learning-focused environment.

What We’re Looking For

*

CTA / ATT / ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).

*

Solid grounding in UK personal tax compliance, ideally gained in a practice environment.

*

Exposure to advisory work such as residence, domicile, IHT, or CGT planning (desirable, not essential).

*

Strong communicator—able to liaise confidently with clients and explain tax matters clearly.

Highly organised, with the ability to manage deadlines across a portfolio.

Proactive team player who enjoys mentoring junior staff.
