SEND Teaching Assistant
SMART Teachers is recruiting compassionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in a variety of welcoming mainstream primary schools.
About the role
As a Supply SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 with a variety of additional needs. Depending on the placement, you may provide 1:1 support , assist small intervention groups, or work alongside the class teacher to help pupils access learning and participate fully in school life.
Every placement offers the chance to develop your skills, build experience in different school environments, and positively impact pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Deliver 1:1 support and small-group interventions
- Assist pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, and other additional needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and EHCP targets
- Work closely with teachers, SENDCos, and external professionals
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements
To be considered for the role of SEND Teaching Assistant you will:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND is essential
- Experience working within a UK primary school is highly desirable
- Good understanding of a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, and speech and language needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Commitment to helping every child reach their full potential
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
