Dispensing Optician – Wandsworth
Full-Time | £35,000 – £38,000 DOE | Independent Practice

Inspired Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with a well-established, family-run optical practice in Wandsworth that is looking to recruit an experienced Dispensing Optician to join their friendly and professional team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Dispensing Optician who enjoys delivering a high standard of patient care, takes pride in their dispensing ability, and wants to become an important part of a supportive independent practice.

The Practice

This modern practice underwent a complete refit in Summer 2025 and offers a bright, contemporary working environment.
The practice benefits from two testing rooms, six-day testing, and a strong clinical focus, supported by a resident Optometrist and regular locum cover.
You’ll be joining an established team of approximately 5–6 staff on the shop floor, with everyone working together to ensure the smooth running of the practice and an excellent patient experience.
The practice also offers a number of additional responsibilities and areas of ownership, including contact lenses, NHS administration, lab oversight, spectacle ordering and managing outstanding jobs.
There is also an in-house lab, dedicated storage areas and a meeting room.

The Role

As a Dispensing Optician, you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality dispensing and patient experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Dispensing spectacles to a high professional standard
• Advising patients on frame, lens and eyewear options
• Taking accurate measurements and ensuring excellent attention to detail
• Providing personalised advice based on individual patient requirements
• Supporting the Optometrist and wider clinical team
• Carrying out pre-screening where required
• Assisting with the day-to-day running of the practice
• Supporting spectacle ordering, lab processes and outstanding jobs
• Delivering exceptional customer service and patient care
• Building strong, long-term relationships with patients
• Supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment
The Working Pattern

• Full-time position
• Monday to Saturday working pattern
• Practice opening hours: 9:00am – 5:30pm
• Saturday working is essential
• £35,000 – £38,000 salary depending on experience

• A genuine team player who is willing to support colleagues
• Adaptable and capable of taking responsibility for different areas of the practice
• Friendly and approachable with patients and colleagues
• Professional, presentable and punctual
• Passionate about delivering excellent customer service and patient care
• Keen to develop their skills and play an important role within an independent practice
