Overview

Pen Underwriting are seeking a dynamic and experienced Pricing Manager to join our established Underwriting Insight & Pricing team. The primary focus of this role is to manage the performance of our Non-Standard Personal Lines & Property Owners accounts, contributing to our goal of growing our £150m GWP per annum account over the next five years.

Please note that this role could be based in any of our Pen underwriting offices across the UK.

How you'll make an impact

  • Create and maintain controls to identify potential challenges and work with underwriters to implement solutions.
  • Lead the pricing element at internal and external underwriting forums.
  • Deliver and maintain pricing analytical solutions for our Personal Lines Home business.
  • Recommend initiatives to enhance underwriting profitability and measure the impact of underwriting actions.
  • Support the reserving team with mix and rate changes and present our pricing/reserving approach to peer group actuaries.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and documented procedures for workflow management.
  • Stay updated on industry initiatives and best practices in pricing/reserving/visualization methods.
  • Support business planning through loss ratio projection and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business process efficiency.
  • Act as a role model, conducting business ethically and in line with company values and standards.
About You

  • Progress toward FIA qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with Emblem is required
  • Understanding of actuarial reserving and pricing techniques.
  • Experience in building risk models for insurance pricing via GLMs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage large data sets and translate business requirements into practical solutions.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
