Interim Finance Manager
Location: Central London, hybrid (2 days per week on site)
Contract: Temporary, 6 weeks
Hours: Full–time, 35 hours per week
Pay: GBP24.20 to GBP31.37 per hour (+ GBP2.92 to GBP3.79 holiday pay) (circa GBP44,000 to GBP57,000 salaried equivalent)

Prospectus is delighted to be supporting our client, a national, progressive think tank, in the search for a temporary Interim Finance Manager .
This role provides a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager to lead a dynamic finance team, ensuring operational stability across payroll, reporting, and compliance, creating a chance for the successful applicant to make an immediate and meaningful difference in an impactful organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day–to–day finance function, ensuring all financial transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with established controls.
- Manage purchase and sales ledgers, payments, receipts, expenses, and account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Lead invoicing and credit control activities, ensuring income is collected promptly and financial information remains up to date.
- Coordinate payroll and pension administration, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Produce financial reports, analysis, and management information to support informed decision–making across the organisation.
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance, identifying risks and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Support year–end accounts preparation, audit processes, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, suppliers, funders, and other external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, controls, and reporting through the effective use of technology and automation.
- Provide financial guidance and support to managers and colleagues, promoting strong budget management and financial accountability.
- Work collaboratively across teams, contributing to wider organisational projects and supporting operational priorities as required.
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all aspects of financial management.
Key Requirements:
- Recent, relevant experience in a similar finance management role with a charitable organisation, with varied knowledge across key finance functions including payroll, reconciliations, year–end, pensions, transactions, and reporting.
- Full or part qualified accountancy qualifcation (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CIPFA).
- Strong grasp of relevant systems, especially Sage 50, and Microsoft Excel.
- High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Collaborative and proactive approach, with the capability to work both independently and in a team.
