The Finance Analyst provides analytical support primarily for the Trust’s Capital and Efficiency Programmes. The role will be supporting the business through a significant period of change and at a financially challenging time.
The Finance Analyst role requires significant analytical experience, including the ability to work with and interpret large and complex datasets to support effective to support management in decision making.
They should also be able to work autonomously and be able to plan and prioritise work. This is a key supporting role to the Capital and Efficiency programmes, working with a wide range of stakeholders ensuring complex financial analysis is communicated effectively.
Main duties of the job
Reporting
To lead on processes to automate regular processing and report distribution.
To design and produce regular and ad-hoc management information reports that support management decision-making, performance, planning and evaluation.
· To design and produce regular and ad-hoc information reports for use by the Trust and its commissioners to accurately communicate trust activity and performance.
Ensure that all reports, internal and external are detailed, accurate and produced to schedule.
· Devise new reports and provide them in a timely, accurate manner, using a range of complex, difficult data sources, drawn from across patient pathways and from multiple organisations
· Provide a range of reports, outputs, reports, tables, presentation packs, forecast, data modelling and commentary on transformation indicators and other requested areas
To present the results of any complex modelling work to non-information staff in clear and unambiguous ways.
· Gather data and report on progress toward CIP programme objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Data Analysis
· Work with the IPDU team to provide analytical support (financial, qualitative and quantitative) to continually develop and refine the CIP Programme.
· Lead on Information analysis to support CIP and business planning process.
· Maintenance of all the required trackers including adherence to version control.
· Map and understand existing data available data and systems to create comprehensive change and service baselines.
· Integrate quality and financial data into change and service plans in ways that make information visual and easy to understand / action.
· Review and summarise national, regional, and local policy and research for healthcare quality improvement, service redesign, commissioning and value for money indicators to ensure guidance and best practice are incorporated in organisational development where appropriate.
· Work with clinical and corporate departments to map out strategic data including clinic, clinical, financial, quality and risk data. Understand the data and use it to create baselines for project objectives and to identify key patterns, gaps and anomalies.
· Work collaboratively with senior clinical and management staff to create new metrics, both by combining existing data in new ways and by gathering new data.
· Interrogate patient level data and report on changes in trends or patterns focusing on defined key performance indicators.
· Work with clinical teams, BIU and IT to establish the best ways for data to be visualised and create systems and structures to produce appropriate reports.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships and dialogue with providers and users of data to ensure opportunities for better information provision and usage are established.
· Carry out external and internal benchmarking information and identify targets as part of CIP development.
· Work across KCH, PRUH, KHP and beyond to obtain and analyse specified data sets and to reconcile data held in different forms.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
- CCAB part qualified or relevant appropriate experience of NHS Finance to postgraduate equivalent level
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in designing and developing complex reports using a variety of business intelligence applications
- Proven experience of working with relational database management systems
- Experience of using statistical packages to produce advanced analytics
Desirable criteria
- Experience using public health data to produce analytical intelligence
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent understanding of advanced analytical techniques such as modelling, benchmarking and statistical methods.
- Able to write complex reports including some programming skills and adding commentary
