About the team and the role:
The Consumer-to-Consumer (C2C) team focuses on creating a simple, safe, and engaging selling experience for eBay sellers, supporting how they list, ship, get paid, and grow their businesses. Within this space, the Analytics team plays a central role in shaping product and business strategy, guiding decisions that directly influence the roadmap and overall marketplace performance.
As a Data Science Manager, you will lead analytics strategy for C2C Search, with a focus on improving and personalizing search and increasing sales velocity for sellers. This role combines leadership, hands-on technical work, and cross-functional collaboration. You will partner with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver scalable data solutions, advance experimentation practices, and develop AI-enabled tools that improve decision-making and seller outcomes.
- Lead C2C Search product analytics and experimentation strategy to improve speed of sale and seller success.
- Define and implement consistent metrics, experimentation frameworks, and measurement standards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Drive AI-focused initiatives by prototyping and delivering data products and tools that enhance search performance and automate analytical workflows.
- Establish high standards for data quality, instrumentation, and metric definitions, aligning data architecture and semantic layers across teams.
- Own business performance tracking through domain scorecards, leading regular reviews and translating insights into clear recommendations for leadership.
- Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, remove bottlenecks, and deliver impactful outcomes.
- Develop scalable processes and solutions that improve the speed, quality, and effectiveness of analytics across the organization.
- Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science, with a strong track record in product analytics at scale.
- Deep expertise in experimentation, econometrics, causal inference, and statistical modeling, with the ability to evaluate methodologies and ensure analytical rigor.
- Strong programming skills in SQL and Python, with experience working on production-scale datasets.
- Experience using AI tools and frameworks (e.g., coding assistants or agent-based tools) to develop, evaluate, and prototype analytical solutions.
- Ability to combine technical execution with strategic thinking, including hands-on prototyping, validating approaches, and solving complex problems.
- Strong business and product acumen, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and measurable outcomes.
- Experience collaborating across product, engineering, and data teams, with the ability to align stakeholders and drive execution in complex environments.
