Chief Financial Officer

Harper May is working with a founder-led financial services firm that has grown steadily over the past eight years and now manages substantial client assets across multiple regulated product lines. The business is profitable, well-capitalised, and has recently expanded its distribution team to capture new market opportunities. Current ownership is founder-backed with selective institutional support. The organisation now needs a Chief Financial Officer to strengthen its financial leadership and prepare the business for the next phase of scaled growth.

The Role
You will report to the Chief Executive and serve as a core member of the executive leadership team. Full accountability for financial strategy, regulatory compliance, balance sheet management, and the performance and development of the finance function. This is a highly visible role requiring both technical mastery and the credibility to advise at Board level in a regulated sector.

* Build and articulate the financial strategy that underpins the firm's growth trajectory and risk appetite

* Lead financial planning, forecasting, and scenario modelling to support executive decision-making

* Manage all aspects of capital adequacy, liquidity, and balance sheet composition

* Oversee statutory accounts, regulatory reporting, and external audit relationships

* Establish and maintain robust financial controls, governance processes, and internal audit oversight

* Work closely with the CEO and Board to identify and quantify financial risks and opportunities

* Build, mentor, and retain a capable finance team aligned to the firm's growth ambitions

What we are looking for

* ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or substantial equivalent professional standing)

* Proven Chief Financial Officer or equivalent executive finance leadership within financial services

* Deep understanding of regulatory capital frameworks and regulatory reporting obligations

* Experience operating at Board level within a regulated business environment

* Strong financial acumen paired with genuine commercial and strategic thinking

* Clear communicator with the presence and judgment to influence senior stakeholders and external regulators
