Are you a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor eager to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives? Do you possess the empathy, patience, and determination to help pupils overcome challenges and flourish both academically and personally? If so, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Behaviour Mentor to join a high-achieving and supportive primary school in Newham. You will be instrumental in guiding pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs — helping them build confidence, develop resilience, and foster positive attitudes to learning. This role is perfect for someone who wants to inspire change and empower children to reach their full potential.

The School

This inclusive and forward-thinking Newham primary school is celebrated for its whole-child approach to education. The school places great importance on emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and fostering a nurturing environment where every pupil feels valued and supported to succeed.

Led by an inspiring leadership team, the school embraces a culture of respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement — for both pupils and staff. Professional development, training, and career progression are actively encouraged, making this an excellent place to grow your skills as a Behaviour Mentor .

Behaviour Mentor – What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges (in schools, youth settings, or mentoring roles)
  • Calm, empathetic, and emotionally aware, with strong de-escalation and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for improving children’s wellbeing and educational experiences
  • Confidence in using behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches
  • A team player who works effectively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external agencies
  • Committed to inclusion, building positive relationships, and modelling constructive behaviour

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor , you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils, helping them manage emotions and behaviour effectively
  • Build trusting relationships and offer consistent, structured guidance
  • Encourage re-engagement with learning and support pupils in developing positive coping strategies
  • Collaborate with teachers to maintain calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environments

Application

If you’re passionate about supporting children to grow in confidence, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a short cover letter detailing your experience and reasons for applying.
