Key Responsibilities

As a Primary Teacher in Walthamstow, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and challenging lessons across the curriculum in line with the National Curriculum

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of all pupils

  • Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities, including SEN and EAL pupils

  • Using assessment effectively to monitor pupil progress and inform lesson planning

  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement

  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development alongside academic progress

  • Collaborating with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff, and senior leaders to deliver targeted interventions

  • Participating in pupil progress meetings, curriculum planning, and school-wide initiatives

  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil achievement, behaviour, and wellbeing

  • Keeping accurate records of pupil performance, assessment, and behaviour

  • Actively participating in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and professional development opportunities

  • Upholding safeguarding, child protection, and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Primary Teacher who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Has experience teaching in KS1 or KS2 (ECTs welcome)

  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and consistently applies positive behaviour strategies

  • Is committed to inclusive education , supporting pupils from diverse and multicultural backgrounds

  • Can differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of all learners

  • Is reflective, proactive, and committed to ongoing professional development

  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues

  • Works collaboratively as part of a professional team

  • Is passionate about making a lasting impact on pupils’ learning and development

Experience supporting pupils with SEN, EAL, or additional learning needs is highly desirable but not essential.
