Graduate Unqualified Teacher

Are you a high-achieving graduate who wants more than a traditional Teaching Assistant role?

Do you have the confidence, subject knowledge and presence to step in front of a secondary classroom?

Could this be the year you turn your academic background into a career in teaching?

KPI Education is recruiting ambitious graduates to join a high-performing London secondary school as Graduate Unqualified Teachers , starting immediately or during the 2026/27 academic year.

This is not simply a classroom support role.

Designed for graduates who are seriously considering a career in education, this opportunity will give you the chance to develop from supporting experienced teachers to planning, delivering and leading lessons of your own .

You’ll earn £26,000–£30,000 while gaining the practical classroom experience, confidence and skills needed to take the next step towards teacher training and Qualified Teacher Status.

What Will You Gain?

As a Graduate Unqualified Teacher, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Earn £26,000–£30,000 while developing as an educator
  • Work full-time within a successful London secondary school
  • Gain genuine experience teaching KS3 and KS4
  • Work predominantly within your degree subject or academic specialism
  • Learn directly from experienced teachers and subject leaders
  • Develop your lesson planning and curriculum knowledge
  • Build strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Support GCSE pupils with subject knowledge and examination preparation
  • Learn how to assess work and monitor pupil progress
  • Attend departmental meetings and professional development
  • Gradually take greater responsibility for delivering lessons
  • Build an outstanding foundation for future teacher training
  • Potentially progress towards QTS from September 2027

From Graduate to Classroom Practitioner

You won't be expected to walk into a classroom on day one and teach a full timetable.

Initially, you'll observe experienced teachers, support pupils and small groups, and learn the school's curriculum, routines and behaviour expectations.

As your confidence and ability develop, your responsibilities will increase.

You could move from supporting individual pupils to delivering parts of lessons, leading small groups, covering classes and ultimately taking responsibility for planned lessons — all with guidance from experienced teaching professionals.

This is your opportunity to experience what teaching is really like while being supported to develop your own classroom practice.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are particularly interested in graduates from subjects including:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • History and Geography
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Computer Science
  • Business and Economics
  • Psychology and related subjects

A 2:1 or First-Class degree is highly desirable, alongside strong subject knowledge and a good academic background.

Previous experience in a school is useful, but not essential .

What matters most is your potential.

You'll need to be confident, articulate, resilient and ambitious , with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and build positive professional relationships with young people.

We're looking for graduates who are prepared to step outside their comfort zone, take responsibility and genuinely want to develop into excellent teachers.

Is Teaching Your Next Step?

If you've finished university and keep thinking, "I could see myself becoming a teacher," this is your opportunity to put that ambition to the test.

Rather than observing teaching from the sidelines, you'll spend the year building genuine classroom experience, developing your subject delivery and learning what it takes to lead a successful lesson.

By the end of the academic year, you could have the experience, confidence and school-based training needed to take the next step towards formal teacher training and Qualified Teacher Status .

Ready to Step Into the Classroom?

Send your CV to Ryan at KPI Education today to be considered for Graduate Unqualified Teacher opportunities across London.

If you're a strong graduate who is serious about becoming a teacher, we want to hear from you.
