SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract: Long-term/Permanent
Day Rate: £105-£115

Commutable From: Hackney, Islington, Lewisham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets The Opportunity: Long Term Futures are looking for a nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant to support two primary school children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), one who is mute and another who needs focused behaviour support. This is a highly personalised support role, combining consistent one-on-one interaction, structured play, and emotional regulation. You'll be helping pupils to access learning in a way that's responsive, routine-driven, and relational. Your Key Responsibilities: Deliver 1:1 tutoring sessions focused on communication, engagement, and sensory learning.
Implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
Assisting with communication and social skills.
Work closely with the SENCO, therapist and class teacher as part of a larger support network.
Use calm and consistent behaviour management strategies to support regulation and transitions. Requirements: Previous experience working with ASD pupils or individuals with communication needs.
Hands on experience using methods like PECS, Makaton or other ASD techniques.
Familiarity with early years education and primary school structures.
A calm personality, resilient when faced with challenges.
