Our award-winning current account is at the heart of Starling’s retail banking proposition and this role offers a unique opportunity to lead its continued success. 

As our Personal Current Accounts Solutions Lead, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end management of our personal current accounts (sole and joint), supporting both day-to-day performance and the strategic evolution of the proposition. Your focus will be ensuring our current account remains the customer’s account of choice driving acquisition retention, and overall product excellence. 

This is a highly visible and collaborative role that will see you working closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, including Product, Risk, Commercial and Customer Experience teams. You’ll bring both strategic thinking and operational rigour, taking accountability for P&L, Balance Sheet performance, and 1OLD risk management.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Shaping the proposition
    • Work alongside the Head of the team to shape Starling’s Personal Current Accounts propositions
    • Hands on support across the proposition development lifecycle from market research and scoping to design, development and delivery
  2. Delivering world-class customer experience
    • Work alongside technology and product owners to ensure customer journeys deliver world-class customer experience
    • Monitor operational performance and collaborate with relevant teams to help address any pain points, whilst driving continuous improvements
  3. Defining success and measuring performance
    • Review existing and identify new success metrics to track performance across different areas, which impact the product’s financial performance and work closely with finance and pricing teams to embed these.
    • Monitor these metrics regularly and report performance and insights to leadership teams
  4. Collaboration & Matrix Management
    • Work cross-functionally with different teams to ensure smooth day-to-day management of the Personal Current Accounts, as well as the delivery of any new initiatives
    • Create partnerships with internal stakeholders to influence decision making and achieve shared objectives
  5. Customer Advocacy
    • Act as the voice of the customer within the business, to ensure the products address the needs of the different customer segments
    • Partner with marketing teams to effectively promote the Personal Current Accounts to the right audiences
  6. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
    • Work with risk and compliance teams to ensure Personal Current Account solutions align with regulations and Starling’s risk appetite as well as deliver good customer outcomes
    • Manage any emerging risks, proactively identify new ones, and deliver strategies to mitigate these

Requirements

Key Requirements:

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in managing Personal Current Account books and driving growth at a fintech or bank
  • Track record of designing and delivering world-class new products/ initiatives whilst managing and/or influencing cross-functional teams

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of UK Personal Current Account market dynamics, including competition and regulations
  • Excellent communication, collaboration/ stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to seek and interpret data to make informed decisions.
