Reporting and Insights Service Lead
We have an exciting opportunity for a Reporting and Insights Service Lead (Global Grade 11) to join the Settlement and Insights team on a permanent basis.. This role is central to delivering operational excellence across Elexon’s reporting, insights and real-time data services that support the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC).
You’ll play a key role in managing operational services, developing meaningful business insights, and supporting customers and stakeholders across the electricity industry . Working with large and complex datasets, you’ll help ensure accurate settlement reporting, deliver continuous service improvements, and support the transition to a smarter, more flexible energy market on the path to Net Zero.
What you’ll do
Lead the day-to-day operation of reporting and insights services, including real-time data reporting solutions operating 24/7
Manage and develop a small team of Service and Business Intelligence Analysts
Deliver data reporting and analysis for internal and external stakeholders using Databricks, SQL and Power BI
Develop and maintain meaningful dashboards, reports and operational insights that support business decision-making
Drive continuous improvement of reporting processes and report lifecycle management
Support customers with operational queries, ensuring a high-quality customer experience
Deliver operational processes and services that support BSC obligations and regulatory requirements
Identify, assess and mitigate operational and data quality risks across designated services
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for reporting and operational processes, supporting key service and organisational decisions
Provide technical guidance, training and operational support to colleagues , customers and industry stakeholders
Produce analysis, reports and recommendations for committees, working groups and senior stakeholders
Support industry change initiatives and operational readiness activities, including training and transition into service
Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across Elexon, industry participants and external bodies
What you’ll bring
Experience managing or mentoring small teams
Strong technical expertise in Databricks, SQL and Power BI
Experience in business intelligence, reporting and data analysis
Ability to build and maintain complex reports, dashboards and data models
Strong understanding of KPI frameworks, metrics and performance reporting
Experience working with large datasets to solve business problems and generate actionable insights
Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience improving operational processes and customer journeys
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Ability to write detailed reports and present findings confidently to senior stakeholders and committees

Desirable experience
Knowledge of the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) and GB electricity market arrangements
Experience within the utilities or electricity sector
Understanding of Settlement, Supplier Volume Allocation and related industry processes
Experience with Agile delivery methodologies
Knowledge of Python, R or additional data visualisation tools
Experience supporting industry change programmes, including MHHS
Experience managing vendors, budgets or business cases
