About the role:
We’re looking for a Head of People to join our People team on a fixed term, maternity cover basis. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering a high-quality, scalable employee experience across the entire employee lifecycle.
This is a hands on role that balances day-to-day operational excellence with the opportunity to lead strategic people initiatives. You’ll work closely with leaders across the business to support organisational goals, enhance our people processes, and help maintain a consistent, engaging, and inclusive culture at Volt.
What the role involves
- Employee Experience: Lead the end-to-end employee journey, from onboarding and probation through to offboarding, ensuring seamless, inclusive, and compliant processes globally.
- Process Improvement: Continuously review and optimise people processes to enhance the employee experience and support a maturing organisation.
- HR Operations: Manage and maintain employee records, contracts, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Payroll & Benefits: Partner with Finance and external providers to support accurate and timely payroll and benefits delivery.
- People Insights: Leverage people data to identify trends, uncover opportunities for improvement, and inform leadership decisions with actionable insights.
- Strategic Partnering: Act as a strategic and trusted partner to members of the leadership team and managers at Volt. Support senior stakeholders in managing and developing their teams and driving business impact.
- Employee Relations: Lead and manage complex employee relations cases end to end as and when needed. Conducting investigations and conflict resolution whilst ensuring fair outcomes, risk mitigation, and upholding our organisational values.
- Strategic Projects: Lead and contribute to global people initiatives, ensuring alignment with regional needs and company-wide objectives.
- Learning & Development: Collaborate with managers to identify training needs and support the design and implementation of internal learning initiatives.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Champion inclusive practices throughout the employee lifecycle, leading and contributing to DE&I programs that help build a workplace where everyone feels they belong.
Requirements
About you:
- Proven experience in a People Partner or HR Generalist role, ideally within a fast-paced, scaling organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage strategic projects and day-to-day HR operations simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience using people data and insights to support decision making.
- A hands-on, proactive approach. You’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done.
- A people-first mindset with a passion for improving employee experience and supporting a positive culture.
- Solid understanding of employment practices, employee lifecycle processes, and HR systems.
- Bonus points if you also have proven experience in an L&D-focused role - this is a muscle we want to strengthen.
