English Literature & Language Teacher - Progressive...
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale (Inner London Framework)
The Role
A progressive Secondary School in Tower Hamlets is seeking a professional, highly articulate, and exceptionally organised English Teacher to join their dedicated Communications faculty. This position is a fantastic opportunity for an educator who excels at fostering analytical writing skills, critical textual reading, and creative language development within a deeply supportive school environment in East London.
The successful candidate will deliver a dynamic and challenging timetable across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, preparing students for exceptional outcomes in text analysis, historical context evaluation, and comparative poetry up to GCSE and A-Level literature specifications, alongside core functional language modules. Beyond classroom teaching, you will be expected to construct precise student progress tracking portfolios, manage internal departmental communications, update school tracking software, and actively lead the school’s competitive debating societies, creative writing clubs, and digital student publications.
You will support crisp communication with parents, visiting writers, and external examination boards, ensuring that all essay moderation files and student assessment registers are processed with total accuracy. Strong administrative and organizational skills are crucial, as the role requires balancing detailed marking and feedback metrics with rigorous theoretical exam preparation within a busy secondary school framework.
