Heyday is an independent, award-winning production company, run by producer David Heyman. Founded in 1996, Heyday has produced Academy Award® winning films, Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney; Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Al Pacino; Marriage Story, directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Laura Dern; and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to Heyday’s Head of Development, the Development Executive’s responsibilities include:originating, identifying and developing new ideas for TV series in line with Heyday’s business plan/development strategyreading submitted books and scripts - both solicited and unsolicited
assisting with and managing all development aspects of projects – e.g. editing scripts and writing notes and pitch documents
identifying strong writing talent
talent management and development from rising stars to established talent
pitching projects to commissioners/buyers
QualificationsSKILLS AND EXPERIENCEEstablished track record / attributes in the following areas:Successfully sourcing, developing, managing and pitching scripted television projects; an international dimension is a plus
Experience of script editing series
Excellent one-to-one agency and writer/talent relationships in the UK and ideally international
A reputation for and track record of spotting talent and developing relationships in the industry
Experience of working with upcoming writing talent as well as established writersClearly demonstrates the following attributes:Dynamic, inquisitive, confident – a self-starter who is not afraid of taking the initiative and corresponding responsibility
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A passion for storytelling
Equally happy working alone or as part of wider team
Highly focussed, entrepreneurial and driven work style, yet has the emotional intelligence to work as part of a close-knit team
Tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with writers, producers etc
An understanding of, and appreciation for, the current and future UK, US and European production environments
Commercial, time-sensitive approach to development with a good understanding of the bigger picture, notably of the commissioning and production processes
A desire to develop projects across the spectrum, from originals to adaptations, UK shows to international productions
