CORE PURPOSE
We require an inspiring, pedagogically rigorous Early Years specialist to lead our foundational provisions. The role involves driving high-quality early childhood education, tracking fundamental progress milestones, and shaping an inclusive learning ecosystem that prioritizes early literacy, numerical mastery, and absolute structural safeguarding compliance.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Strategic Departmental Leadership: Model and execute an ambitious, play-based and structured curriculum across the entire EYFS phase, ensuring full compliance with the statutory national frameworks.
Phonics & Early Literacy Drive: Direct the implementation of systematic synthetic phonics programs to secure exceptional early reading, speech, and communication outcomes across all infant cohorts.
Data-Driven Progress Monitoring: Oversee baseline assessments and continuous profiling metrics, utilizing tracking data to design targeted interventions for children requiring supplementary learning or developmental support.
Parental & Community Cohesion: Create robust home-school communication partnerships, leading parental workshops on early development and ensuring families are active participants in their child’s educational journey.
Team Mentorship & Growth: Provide instructional coaching, direct supervision, and professional development to EYFS teachers, teaching assistants, and nursery nurses to maintain an elite standard of early years provision.
ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE
Maintained Nursery Framework: Operating as a dedicated, local authority-maintained nursery school, our specialist institution focuses entirely on the unique developmental stages of early childhood, benefiting from a high density of early years expertise and deep ties to local support services.
Behavior Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, school-wide behavior routines that maintain a quiet, respectful, and orderly atmosphere, providing a secure, nurturing, and highly predictable environment for early learners.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) paired with an academic degree or recognized technical credential specializing in early childhood education or primary practice.
Leadership Experience: A documented track record of successful classroom management as an experienced EYFS practitioner or middle leader, with a strong ability to guide adult teams effectively.
Framework Mastery: Exhaustive, working knowledge of statutory EYFS welfare requirements, early year observation systems, and modern safeguarding protocols.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
Suburban Growth Zone: Located in the North London borough of Barnet, the school is set within an expansive, family-centric residential area that blends green suburban spaces with an active, diverse urban community.
Connectivity: The location offers premier transport links, well-served by the Northern Line (both High Barnet and Edgware branches), major London bus routes, and exceptional road connections via the A1 and M1 corridors.
