The Team

We are one of Scotland's leading practices. Our team is ranked band 1 in the legal directories for clinical negligence, product liability and professional discipline. We are also the leading Scottish historic abuse practice, at the forefront of the developing law. We act for major indemnifiers and insurers, as well as directly for healthcare professionals, local authorities and charities. Our team draws upon expertise from across the firm and consists of lawyers who specialise in litigation, regulatory and disciplinary hearings, public inquiries and more. Our extensive office network across the UK & Europe, US, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East enables us to deliver a seamless integrated service to our clients around the globe.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Associate (6 plus PQE) to join our team. The role will involve managing a mixed caseload of clinical negligence and abuse claims. This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding team within our multi-award winning firm. The role can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow and requires regular communication with clients. We have a collaborative, supportive team working in a modern, flexible environment. The successful candidate should preferably have experience in personal injury. Previous experience in clinical negligence or abuse claims will be an advantage but is not essential. This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead in a growing area where the law is developing and the work is challenging.

Essential skills & experience

  • A qualified solicitor 6 years plus PQE. Please note that our PQE levels are a guide, and all suitable candidates will be considered.

  • You will hold litigation experience and be highly determined and able to adapt well within a demanding, fast paced environment.

  • You will enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and expanding your knowledge.

  • You will be a confident and effective communicator.

  • You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements.

The Firm

When you work at Clyde & Co, you join a team of 500 partners, 2,400 lawyers, 3,200 legal professionals and 5,500 people in nearly 70 offices and associated offices worldwide. Our values are the principles that guide the decisions we make, unite us in our endeavours and strengthen our delivery, for both our clients and our firm. We work as one, excel with clients, celebrate difference and act boldly. We are committed to operating in a responsible way by progressing towards a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities and clients it serves. We are devoted to providing an environment in which everyone can realise their potential, using its legal and professional skills to support its communities. We do this through pro bono work, volunteering and charitable partnerships, and minimising the impact it has on the environment, including through our commitment to the SBTi Net-Zero standard and the setting of ambitious emissions reduction targets.

Our Commitment

Clyde & Co is proud to be an equal opportunities employer. Our values encourage us to support fairness, celebrate diversity and prohibit all forms of discrimination in the workplace to allow everyone to excel at work. Therefore, we welcome and encourage all applications from suitably qualified individuals, regardless of background or identity. Learn more about our interview process.
