School Business Manager Role in an Independent Primary School

About the Role

You will have responsibility for budget management, financial reporting, procurement, HR processes, compliance, estates, and contract management. The role will also involve managing support staff and working with external suppliers, contractors, and professional services.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the school's business and operational functions
Manage budgets, financial planning, reporting, and expenditure
Oversee procurement, purchasing, and supplier relationships

Lead premises, facilities, and health and safety functions
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies
Support strategic planning and resource allocation
Manage and develop members of the school's support staff

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in school business management, finance, operations, or a similar senior role
Strong understanding of financial management and budget planning
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Experience managing staff, contractors, and external suppliers
Strong knowledge of compliance, HR, and operational procedures
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Desirable
Experience as a School Business Manager or equivalent
Relevant finance, business management, or CIPD qualification
Experience working within an educational environment
Knowledge of school finance systems and education-sector regulations
