Teacher of RE

Richard Challoner School
Kingston upon Thames, Greater London

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for you to join a school where you will be valued and appreciated by pupils, colleagues and parents alike; where our CPD programme has been recognised as exceptional and the caring and supportive environment means that staff turnover is incredibly low; in November 2022 our school was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in all areas.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of RE, and invite applicants who can demonstrate exceptional teaching resulting in high attainment, whilst fostering an environment where an enjoyment for learning thrives.

As an Early Career Teacher, you will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme designed to support your professional development and ensure you thrive from the very start of your career.

In line with the mission of all Catholic schools, Religious Education lies at the heart of our curriculum. All students in Years 7–11 dedicate 10% of their curriculum time to RE, and every student studies GCSE RE. At A Level, Religious Studies is a thriving and popular subject, underpinned by the Catholic Ethos that permeates through everything that we do.

What We Offer:

  • Staff at Richard Challoner refer to themselves as the "Challoner Family". We offer a supportive environment where all staff are developed and valued
  • Opportunities to contribute to the wider development of teaching practice across the school and within the local authority network
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing commitment to wellbeing and career progression
  • Health benefits, including a free on-site gym, cycle-to-work scheme, and on-site parking

The ideal person will be an outstanding teacher, with a passion for Religious Education, have the ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential, and be committed to developing the department through collaborative planning and sharing of ideas and resources.

The appointed teacher will support the ethos of the school and help maintain the core values of integrity, respect and humility. They will have the highest expectations of the students and create drive and ambition for them to succeed, in RE and beyond.

Students’ behaviour at our school is impeccable; they treat each other and staff with real respect, have a genuine enjoyment of school and enjoy their learning. Our students and staff are proud of their school and work hard to be the best that they can be. We strive for everyday excellence in all that we do. Students at the school make excellent progress (top 10% of schools for KS2-4 progress and attainment) and demonstrate excellent behaviour for learning.
