Are you an experienced and passionate Children's Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of disabled children and their families? Wandsworth Council is seeking committed Social Workers and Senior Social Workers to join our Supporting Disabled Children Service , providing high-quality social work support tailored to meet the individual needs of children and young people.
The RoleAs part of our Disabled Children Service , you will work closely with multi-agency partners, including our Preparing for Adulthood Service , in-house providers of short breaks, health and education professionals, and private and voluntary organisations. Your role will be to assess needs, develop personalised care plans, and provide effective support for children, young people, and their families.
Your work will be guided by our Outstanding Practice Framework , ensuring a family-centred approach that promotes anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice . You will have the opportunity to champion inclusive and transformative social work within a diverse community.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver a high-quality, responsive social work service for disabled children and their families.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to develop individualised support packages .
- Conduct child protection assessments , ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
- Support children and families in navigating education, healthcare, and social care services .
- Advocate for the rights and needs of disabled children, ensuring equitable access to services .
We are looking for motivated and skilled social workers who are passionate about supporting children with disabilities. You will be innovative and committed to developing new ways of working , ensuring each child receives tailored, high-quality support .
Essential Requirements:- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England .
- Successful completion of the ASYE Year (for newly qualified social workers).
- Experience in Children's Services , including child protection and safeguarding .
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance .
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency framework .
- Competitive Salary - up to £51,127 per annum , depending on experience.
- £5,000 Welcome Bonus for new social workers.
- £1,000 Retention Payment every 2 years (pro rata for part-time staff).
