Why join us

Joining the Finance team at Sainsbury's Argos offers a unique opportunity to become a key player in driving financial insight, strategic decision-making, and performance management across the business. As the FP&A Finance Manager for Argos, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership, providing valuable analysis, shaping budgeting and forecasting processes, and influencing commercial initiatives. This role presents a chance to make a significant impact by challenging the status quo, improving processes, and translating complex financial data into actionable recommendations, all while maintaining strong financial discipline and contributing to the achievement of our commercial and operational goals.

Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining financial models, driving process improvements, supporting profitability analysis and cost optimisation initiatives, and ensuring strong financial governance and compliance. Additionally, you will be accountable for preparing high-quality presentations and commentary for key stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable recommendations, and fostering a collaborative and influential approach in engaging with senior leaders to drive the business forward.

Who You Are

You are a professionally qualified accountant with a deep expertise in financial analysis and strategic decision-making. With a strong financial modelling and data-analysis capability, you possess the ability to interpret complex data, provide clear insights, and drive process improvements across planning cycles. Your collaborative and influential approach, coupled with excellent communication skills, allows you to engage with senior leaders, challenge constructively, and support the organisation in achieving its commercial and operational goals through effective financial management and governance.

Essential Criteria

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Financial modelling, data analysis and systems capability; Demonstrable experience building and analysing financial models and working with large data sets using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Alteryx or comparable platforms; experience with financial systems (e.g. OneStream) is advantageous
  • Management reporting, budgeting and forecasting expertise; Proven delivery of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes, with clear application of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Insight generation and decision support; Evidence of interpreting complex financial and operational data to produce clear, actionable insights and recommendations that support commercial and strategic decision‑making
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication; Demonstratable ability to work as a business partner, communicating financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders, influencing decisions, and constructively challenging where appropriate
