Your impact
This is your opportunity to lead from the front in a once-in-a-generation transformation of the UK water sector. As a Principal Wastewater / Urban Drainage Modeller, you won’t just deliver projects—you’ll shape resilient, future-ready communities.

You’ll guide critical programmes for Northumbrian Water, United Utilities, and other leading UK utilities—partnering closely to deliver smarter, more sustainable drainage solutions end-to-end.
You will be the technical authority. The problem-solver. The mentor. The trusted voice at the table.
About the Opportunity

- Tackle complex challenges—from flooding and CSO compliance to integrated catchment modelling and 2D overland flow
- Develop smart, sustainable solutions through optioneering and advanced analysis
- Work across the full lifecycle—from early strategy and feasibility to design, construction and optimisation
- Influence major programmes, engaging directly with clients as a trusted advisor
- Mentor and grow the next generation of engineers and modellers
This is a role where you’ll be challenged, supported and empowered—with the freedom to lead, innovate and elevate your career.
Here's what you'll need
- Advanced experience in urban drainage modelling, including InfoWorks ICM and InfoAsset Manager
- Strong GIS capability (ArcGIS, MapInfo) to support technical excellence and decision-making
- Proven experience delivering complex water sector projects and building strong client relationships
- In-depth understanding of industry standards, regulations and technical quality requirements
- Ability to lead across multiple workstreams, balancing priorities with confidence
- Professional membership with ICE or CIWEM (Chartered or working towards)
- A passion for mentoring, collaboration and driving technical excellence
