Science Technician | Richmond
A popular secondary school in Richmond is recruiting a reliable Science Technician to join the department from January 2026. The Science Technician will prepare practical materials, check apparatus safety, manage stock and help ensure lessons are well organised and compliant with health & safety guidance. This Science Technician role in Richmond starts January 2026, with handover and induction sessions in the weeks prior to January 2026.

The appointed Science Technician will keep inventory records, ensure safe storage of chemicals, perform routine equipment checks and assist teaching staff with demonstrations and practical logistics. The Richmond science department values a Science Technician who is methodical, proactive and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare practical apparatus and materials and ensure labs are set up and cleared efficiently.
- Manage consumables, maintain stock levels and place orders to sustain teaching requirements.
- Perform routine safety checks on equipment, log any issues and coordinate repairs with suppliers.
- Maintain COSHH and safety documentation and support the review of risk assessments.
- Support teachers with demonstrations and help supervise practical activity when required.
Person specification
- Experience in a technical or laboratory-support role with good practical skills.
- Working knowledge of COSHH, lab safety and correct storage of hazardous materials.
- Organised, dependable and able to maintain accurate inventories and records in Richmond.
- Good interpersonal skills for working with staff and pupils and available to start January 2026.
