About the School

We are seeking a reliable, practical, and proactive Site Supervisor to join a vibrant school community located in Putney. The school is committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and inspiring physical environment where pupils can learn and thrive safely.

This key operational role is responsible for the overall security, maintenance, cleanliness, and smooth daily facilities management of the school buildings and surrounding grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Security & Keyholding: Serve as the primary keyholder for the daily opening and securing of the school grounds, setting intruder alarms, and ensuring the site remains safe and secure at all times.

• Facilities Maintenance & DIY: Perform routine repairs, general carpentry, painting, decorating, basic plumbing, and ongoing maintenance tasks across the premises.

• Health & Safety Compliance: Conduct and record routine statutory checks, including fire alarm tests, emergency lighting assessments, legionella water monitoring, and playground safety inspections.

• Contractor & Grounds Care: Oversee external contractors during major works or specialist servicing; ensure school grounds, pathways, and outdoor spaces are kept tidy and hazard-free.

• Janitorial & Event Setup: Manage cleaning stock supplies, support cleaning staff, and assist with setting up furniture and equipment for assemblies, exams, parent evenings, and school events.

Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience working as a site supervisor, caretaker, facilities assistant, or in a practical trade (ideally within an educational or public sector setting).

• Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of practical DIY skills alongside a strong understanding of building health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, manual handling).

• Personal Qualities: Excellent organizational skills, physical fitness for active duties, strong communication, and a positive, approachable manner.

• Flexibility: Willingness to operate on flexible shift patterns or handle keyholder call-outs if required.

• Safeguarding: An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness to undergo a full DBS application immediately).
