Statutory Compliance & Assurance Officer - Battersea...

Savills Management Resources
London

Purpose of the Role

The Statutory Compliance & Assurance Officer plays a key role in supporting risk governance, legal compliance, and assurance reporting across the Battersea Power Station estate. This includes oversight of all statutory systems (e.g. fire, gas, water, lifts, asbestos, electrical safety) and the effective use of CAFM platforms and compliance reporting tools.

The role supports internal teams and contractors in meeting their regulatory duties, while also coordinating digital compliance systems, internal audits, evidence for ISO standards, and readiness for existing and new legislation. It is a pivotal role within the estate's operational compliance structure, contributing to a safe, legally compliant, and forward-thinking built environment.

Key Responsibilities

Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure the estate remains compliant with all statutory obligations including fire safety, gas, water hygiene, asbestos, electrical, and vertical transportation.
  • Monitor legal updates (e.g. Building Safety Act, Fire Safety (England) Regs) and brief relevant teams on their implications.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and surveyors to ensure inspections, documentation, and remedial actions are completed in line with best practice.
  • Support readiness for Martyn’s Law through documentation, process improvement, and public-facing compliance initiatives.

System Management & Digital Compliance

  • Act as primary user and lead for CAFM and digital compliance systems (e.g. Data Station, Dome, Records for Buildings).
  • Maintain document accuracy, system integrity, and data governance standards.
  • Upload contractor documents, inspection reports, and statutory records in line with audit readiness requirements.
  • Develop and produce compliance dashboards, risk logs, and monthly performance reports.

Audit, Assurance & Risk Governance

  • Maintain the estate’s compliance risk register and escalate non-compliance issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate internal and external compliance audits including related ISO requirements.
  • Work closely with the Senior Risk, Safety & Compliance Manager to review trends, track KPIs, and implement improvements.
  • Monitor supplier compliance against documentation and service delivery KPIs.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support the training matrix and promote a proactive compliance culture across the team.
  • Work with ESG leads and operational managers to deliver sustainability-linked compliance objectives.
  • Liaise with partners as required on safety-related communications and drills.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation.
