Head of Retail Broking (Portfolio Manager)
We’re working with a high-performing advisory business that’s now entering a pivotal new phase – creating a retail broking division within one of the world’s largest specialty insurance groups. This is not a traditional broker role; it’s an opportunity to shape and lead a new proposition from the ground up.
Born out of a market-leading transactional risk advisory firm, the business has carved out a strong niche within private equity and M&A. With significant backing from a major global insurance group, they’re now expanding to position themselves alongside the industry’s most established global intermediaries.
Not only will this role be advocating the brand and educating the market on what our client has to offer, but also building and bolstering the team to support it.
The vision is clear:
To build a modern, advisory-led retail broker that leads with M&A and financial institutions expertise – using deal activity as the entry point to create multi-class, full-service client relationships.
As Head of Retail Broking/Portfolio Manager , you’ll:
- Define and execute the retail strategy, establishing the structure, culture, and commercial focus of a new team
- Build relationships across private equity, financial institutions, and corporate clients, leveraging transactional risk as a growth engine
- Recruit and mentor a small, high-calibre team of relationship leads and portfolio managers
- Collaborate across the wider specialty group to align resources and create joined-up solutions
- Act as a market-facing leader, driving business development and embedding an advisory mindset at every level
You’ll bring:
- Deep experience within financial institutions, corporate broking, or M&A insurance
- A strong network and credibility at senior client level
- Entrepreneurial drive and the confidence to build a new proposition within a large, well-funded group
- A collaborative and advisory mindset – more consultant than broker
This is a rare opportunity to create something lasting – a legacy business designed to redefine what retail broking can look like in today’s market.
