About the role

You’ll be joining our Product Engineering team, specifically our Aggregate Team. The Aggregate Team is responsible for building and maintaining our data pipeline and ETL processes, which form the core of our product and define what makes Tenzo unique. With over 70 integrations and counting, we are constantly expanding our capabilities and handling substantial amounts of data that feed our web and mobile applications.

The Aggregate Team is strategic for us, with a primary focus on leading innovation, enhancing functionality, scalability, and connectivity of our new and legacy integrations, ultimately delivering seamless experiences for our valued customers and partners.

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior professional to grow and make a meaningful impact at Tenzo. This role offers the chance to learn how our product integrates and interacts with external systems, partners, and platforms.

Your mission

  • Support the design and development of data pipelines, learning to orchestrate key activities such as data ingestion, extraction and transformation, task automation
  • Work on data challenges under guidance, focusing on delivering short-term wins while building understanding of longer-term value.
  • Assist in building robust, scalable, and efficient integrations using industry-standard protocols and APIs.
  • Support optimisation and troubleshooting of data workflows to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Help implement and improve data quality and validation checks to ensure data integrity.
  • Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving data mismatch bugs and other data quality issues. This includes reviewing and validating data from various sources, such as spreadsheets, to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our data warehouse solution on Snowflake under supervision.
  • Collaborate with our product manager and stakeholders to understand and document data requirements.
  • Learn about data storage optimisation, infrastructure performance and cost considerations.
  • Learn and apply data and cloud engineering best practices.
  • Work in a high-performing team, contributing to ticket creation and refinement, and participating in planning sessions and team retrospectives.


About you

  • Shows curiosity and eagerness to learn about data engineering concepts and practices
  • Demonstrates strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Willing to take initiative, ask questions, and contribute ideas while learning to own work with appropriate guidance
  • Has basic understanding of SQL databases and interest in learning about analytical data warehouses, data orchestration and data pipeline tools
  • Eager to learn technical documentation and planning
  • Has some exposure to agile development practices such as scrum or kanban

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Basic proficiency in Python programming for data manipulation and automation ( Must have )
  • Fundamental knowledge of SQL and exposure to relational databases such as PostgreSQL ( Highly desirable )
  • Interest in learning data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow ( Nice to have )
  • Basic proficiency in Git ( Important )
  • Eagerness to learn how to write high-quality code, technical documentation, aand production plans ( Important )
  • Basic understanding of data challenges and willingness to learn strategies to address them, including data quality, privacy, and security ( Important )
  • A pragmatic approach to learning data engineering, with interest in understanding both near-term solutions and future-proofing concepts ( Important )
  • Interest in learning data management best practices, including frameworks for testing, monitoring, and alerting in relation to data pipelines ( Important )
  • Some exposure to cloud platforms, particularly AWS, or strong interest in learning ( Nice to have )
  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or related field
  • Candidates with any experience in our tech stack will be prioritised, but we encourage applications from those eager to learn new technologies
