Tax Business Partner - VP
My client, a global Financial Services business, are looking to hire a Technical Tax specialist to join their securities services arm of their business . The candidate will leverage deep tax expertise to both protect the firm from client-related tax risks and deliver commercially appropriate tax solutions across products and services. Operating independently, the role requires significant market experience to advise clients, guide internal teams, and ensure consistency with the firm’s global standards.

Role Responsibilities:
- Monitor, assess, and implement tax changes impacting Securities Services products, providing guidance to internal teams, clients, and updating tax documentation as needed.
- Own and maintain key tax tools such as the client onboarding tax questionnaire and tax matrix, ensuring accuracy and compliance with evolving regulations.
- Provide tax technical expertise and risk assessments to support internal/external reviews, ensuring services align with tax obligations and group tax department guidelines.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to address complex tax matters, client issues, litigations, and tax authority audits, serving as the escalation point for the UK.
- Represent the business in industry associations, influencing tax legislation and market practices to protect client and business interests.
- Support strategic client interactions, RFPs, and deal presentations, while acting as the main contact with the group tax department for tax queries, interpretations, and lobbying needs .
Key Requirements:
- UK accountancy and/or tax qualification, with Big 4 or service provider tax advisory experience (not purely operational).
- Deep knowledge of securities taxation (withholding tax, double tax treaties, tax-transparent structures) and UK client types (collective investment vehicles, pension funds, VAT compliance), plus proficiency in UK Reporting Fund Regime.
- Basic understanding of non-UK client structures (e.g., FCPs, SICAVs) and exposure to non-UK investor tax reporting/capital gains regimes (e.g., Germany, India).
- Proven ability to think strategically about product development, assess commercial implications, and manage key business partners.
- Strong client-facing, presentation, influencing, and negotiation skills with the ability to simplify complex tax issues and articulate tax strategy effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong organizational and planning skills, ability to work independently in a matrix structure, fluent spoken/written English.
