Head of Offce
Alice Macdonald is seeking a ‘Head of Office’ to manage her dedicated team across the constituency office in Norwich and parliament. The ideal candidate will need excellent political judgement, strong communication and stakeholder management skills and attention to detail. You will manage her staff team, budget and priorities and ensure the smooth running of her office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and maintain a highly professional administrative support function for the MP office
• Manage the staff team ensuring Alices’ priorities are managed and delivered effectively.
• Horizon scanning for parliamentary and constituency opportunities anticipating what advice or action may be needed and identifying problems and resolving them
• Oversee project based work and events in the constituency and in Parliament.
• Ensure office is fully equipped and functioning correctly
• Deal with security matters, guidance, maintaining systems, liaising with external bodies
• Oversee stakeholder engagement and management working with team
• Overall management of Members diary commitments, delegating as appropriate
• Triage the Members inbox
• Manage all aspects of the budget, keep MP informed of relevant financial matters and liaise with IPSA on office finance. Be the Members IPSA and HR Proxy
• Support and manage the recruitment of staff for the MPs office
Required Skills and Values:
- Supportive of Labour Party aims and values
- Experience managing and leading complex teams
- Experience of working in a political environment. Parliamentary experience desired but not essential
- An understanding and interest in the issues affecting residents in Norwich North
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic. Experience working in a fast-paced environment performing a wide range of tasks
- Understanding and interest in Alice's key policy interests
