Attendance Officer
A successful Secondary School in Chester is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and understands the important role attendance plays in student achievement, wellbeing and long-term success.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring attendance across the school, ensuring accurate records are maintained and supporting strategies to improve attendance and punctuality. You will work closely with students, parents, pastoral leaders and external agencies to address attendance concerns and remove barriers to learning.
Daily responsibilities will include monitoring registers, carrying out first-day absence calls, following up unexplained absences, maintaining attendance records and producing reports for school leaders. You will also support attendance meetings with families and help implement intervention plans where required.
The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, alongside the ability to build positive relationships with students and parents. The successful candidate will be confident using data to identify trends and support attendance improvement initiatives across the school.
You will become a key member of the pastoral team and play a vital role in helping students access the best possible education through regular attendance and engagement.
