The Department has six sections, including the Section of Molecular Microbiology which will host the new appointment. The Section is a key constituent of Centre for Bacterial Resistance Biology (CBRB) and studies fundamental biological mechanisms underpinning bacterial and fungal physiology, pathogenesis, microbiota, innate immune responses to bacterial and fungal infections and antimicrobial resistance. Other fields of bacterial or fungal infection biology relating to human disease will also be considered.
You will also be expected to contribute to teaching responsibilities. The Department hosts two Masters of Science courses, in Molecular Medicine and in Molecular Biology and Pathogenesis of Viruses ; runs two streams of the MRes in Biomedical Research ( Molecular basis of human disease and Bacterial pathogenesis and infection ), and also contributes to undergraduate courses in Medicine and Medical Biosciences Sciences. You will be expected to contribute teaching sessions to some of these courses and to host project students in your laboratory.
What we are looking for :
- You should have, or be developing, a national and an international reputation in a relevant research area. It is essential that you hold a PhD or equivalent in molecular microbiology or appropriate related field. You will have a publication record that demonstrates significant contributions to your field and the ability to independently publish high quality research in peer reviewed journals.
What we can offer you :
- The opportunity to build your career at a world-leading institution. Grow in your career with tailored training programmes for academic staff. Sector-leading salary and remuneration package. Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture.
