Event Front of House Staff
Department/Team: Backstage F&B Team
Responsible to: Event Duty Manager
Contract: Permanent – Minimum of 4 shifts per month
Location: The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB
Hours: Shifts are scheduled on a rota basis, Mon-Sun, between the approximate hours of 4pm- 11pm. Shift length may vary depending on the length of the event.
Salary: £14 per hour

Role Summary
The Events Staff plays a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by providing courteous, efficient, and professional assistance during events. This includes welcoming guests and assisting with various events taking place in the building, ensuring safety compliance, F&B service and supporting the smooth operation of the events
Areas of responsibility
Event staff will be responsible for:
- Greeting and assisting patrons upon arrival in a polite and welcoming manner, providing directions and event information
- Check tickets and manage entry points in line with our policies
- Assisting customers with access requirements.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries or concerns.
- Support emergency procedures, including evacuations if necessary.
- Collaborate with security to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and uphold the venue’s customer service values.
Event staff will also be responsible for serving food and beverages at events, including:
- Preparing and setting up F&B stations
- Ensuring the safe handling of food and drinks
- Maintaining cleanliness of service areas
- Delivering efficient, friendly, and professional service throughout the event
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and the Theatre's management may, at any time, allocate other tasks which are of a similar nature or level.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience of working in a customer service or F&B environment within events
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to provide friendly, professional assistance to diverse audiences.
- A proven ability to work effectively and efficiently.
- Clear and confident verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and event staff.
- Ability to act decisively in challenging situations.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and moving around the venue.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check as the role may interact with vulnerable adults and/or children.
