Head of People

Lumon
London

Who are we?

Lumon is a leading fintech company specialising in foreign exchange and international payments. We're passionate about empowering individuals and businesses to effortlessly manage their overseas transactions. We are on a mission to become the world’s most trusted currency partner and are always on the look out for those who will help us achieve that.

Life at Lumon

People are always at the heart of what we do, no matter if it’s our clients, our community or our Lumoneers. To give you a little flavour of what we mean…

We are a proud charity partner of Future First who support children in schools across the UK. We are a carbon neutral business. We are committed to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; our EDI committee serves an important role at Lumon by challenging the status quo and helping us move the needle. We really want to make Lumon a great place to work, where people feel comfortable being themselves and where we can attract as much diversity as we possibly can. If this sounds good to you, then we’re thrilled you’re considering joining our team!

The Role

We have exciting expansion plans and finding fantastic people to join the team is vital to those. As we embark on our next phase of growth, we are looking for a Head of People to lead Recruitment and Business Partnering across our Private and Corporate divisions in the UK, Spain, France, Portugal and Ireland – with Cyprus and Greece coming soon. In this role, you’ll partner with C-Suite Executives and their leadership teams, be able to have a meaningful impact on Lumon’s future strategy and success, and will report directly to the CPO.

So, what does that actually mean?

In a nutshell:

  • Partner with business leaders to ensure we have the best structures and teams in place to deliver our business ambitions
  • Enable the transformation of our B2B Sales division, in close partnership with the Chief Commerical Officer
  • Develop and deliver a robust talent management process, elevating the performance of our Lumoneers and ensuring we have the right succession plans in place
  • Run the annual benchmarking process, salary reviews and continually review and improve our variable pay plans
  • Oversee all international expansion from an HR perspective
  • Improve our EVP to ensure we attract and retain the best talent for Lumon
  • Support employee relations in the UK and internationally as required
  • Support the CPO to deliver culture and change programmes
  • Work closely with the rest of the people team on projects

The most important attribute you can bring to this job is your ambition to have a big impact on a growing business, a willingness to work hard and the right ingenuity to make that happen.

We look for people who strive to improve, are restless in their desire to exceed expectations, but who know that working as a team, brings better results than working alone.

What else will help you to succeed in this role?

  • 10+ years of HR experience in rapidly scaling organisations – ideally within financial services
  • Strong knowledge of UK and European employment legislation (inc. TUPE)
  • In-depth understanding of end-to-end talent management
  • Experience in reward: annual processes, benchmarking, designing variable and LTI plans, etc
  • An ability to influence senior decision makers
  • An ability to improve on processes
  • A desire to learn and bring that mindset to the team
  • A data-driven approach to decision making
  • A champion of diversity and inclusion
  • Additional languages are a plus – ideally Spanish or Portuguese

We put great value on anyone who can say “yes” to all our success criteria and someone that wants to play a leading role in our people team.

What You’ll Get

  • A competitive salary
  • 25 days of annual leave, with a chance to purchase up to 5 additional days
  • Birthday day off
  • Free monthly company lunches
  • Summer and Christmas parties, and other fun social events throughout the year
  • Access to Pirkx benefits platform which includes online GP, cashback and discounts on shopping and restaurants, gym discounts and more!
  • Medicash health scheme for you and your family
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Quiet/Prayer room in Head Office
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Mental Health First Aiders
  • Pension
  • 4x Life Assurance
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Enhanced maternity leave
  • Menopause support
  • 2 additional days a year for ‘Moments that Matter
