Senior Software Developer

Quick Release
London

If you’re interested in progressing your career in developing innovative tools and being part of a hands-on, collaborative, project-based approach to solving data challenges, then we’d love to hear from you.

The "Special Projects" team is Quick Release’s in-house software development centre-of-excellence, developing products directly for clients, tools to support the work of our Analysts and Consultants, and internal software tools to help run the business.

The team is made up of primarily full-stack developers who have moved into the team after excelling in Analyst or Consultant roles within Quick Release. We are now seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to bolster our capacity to deliver high quality software solutions, accelerate our processes and help us grow our technical capabilities.

This role will require 1-2 days per week working from a QR office, client site or shared workspace.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering on projects as part of a team of developers to create impactful products
  • Writing robust and maintainable code
  • Helping to shape internal processes and practices
  • Collaborating closely with the wider QR team to help problem solve, define, deliver, and code review features
  • Attending and leading sessions within the Special Projects daily stand-ups and monthly workshops
  • Contributing to and learning from our knowledgebase
  • Mentoring less experienced members of the team to facilitate their professional growth

The primary technologies we use include Python, Django, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Terraform, AWS, Docker, Postgres, Redis, GitHub Actions and Git.

Additionally, we support some legacy and smaller tools using VBA, C# and R

Requirements

The selection process will focus on technical aptitude as well as your experience in the process of taking an idea from concept to a shipped product. We offer the following requirements as a guide:

  • Professional experience with multiple of our key technologies and/or similar ones
  • Experience using the Python programming language
  • A demonstrable history of designing and developing impactful applications
  • Understanding and ideas around the latest web development tools and techniques
  • Professional experience with the latest tools and techniques for web development
  • You feel ownership over everything you help to build - you write maintainable code, test and document thoroughly, care about the people who use the things you create and take pride in your work

An extra dose of awesome if:

  • You have experience with developing full-stack Django applications
  • You have experience with AWS and Terraform

Benefits

Apart from joining a vibrant team within a forward-thinking international company, the post also comes with:

  • Competitive starting salary of £55k - £67k depending on experience & skillset
  • Lots of team events and supportive company culture
  • Developing your talent and career with training, mentoring and support, plus a strong focus on well-being and work-life balance

AI and your application

We're aware that many candidates these days are using AI to help them with their job applications. Whilst we understand the use of this kind of technology to assist with applications, it's worth noting that answers copied directly from AI tend to come across very generic and detract from the quality of applications (and are easy to spot). To give yourself the best chance of letting yourself shine in your application, we strongly recommend personalising your answers based on your own skills and experience. The use of AI during assessments throughout the recruitment process will result in your application being rejected.
